Blast Injury and TBI

The war in Iraq will be no different in producing a "signature wound" only this time the wound is in the brains of those affected. Medical experts are witnessing an emerging and significant increase in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). In other words, the Iraq war could produce a generation of veterans with life changing brain injury, affecting thousands of service men and women from all walks of life across the country.

NABIS Plans Meeting in Alaska

Mark you calendars for the Alaska Brain Injury Conference to be held July 28-30, 2010 at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage!


NASHIA and NABIS to Hold Joint Meeting in 2010 in Minneapolis

This event will be held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Brain Injury a three-day conference specifically for attorneys who specialize in brain injury litigation. The National Association for Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) and the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) have announced plans to hold a Joint Meeting on Brain Injury in the Fall of 2010 in Minneapolis. A scientific planning committee comprised of nationally recognized multidisciplinary leaders from the brain injury field will develop an integrated and unique educational program that promises to be of great interest to researchers, clinicians, administrators, advocates and all others who work in the field of brain injury. This event will be held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Brain Injury a three-day conference specifically for attorneys who specialize in brain injury litigation.


Barriers and Recommendations Report Available

Concerned by a lack of treatment and service options for brain injury survivors, more than one hundred of the most respected military and civilian leaders in brain injury treatment convened recently to address the crisis of brain injury in America. The resulting report, Barriers and Recommendations: Addressing the Challenge of Americans with Brain Injury, demands major reforms within the military and civilian sectors. The public release of this report takes a hard-hitting look at available medical care, exposing the grim realities facing Americans with brain injury.


Brain Injury Career Center Launched

Brain injury professionals have a new employment resource, the Brain Injury Career Center.  This interactive online job board allows professionals to make employment connections in the specialized brain injury field.
