2013 Guidelines for Writing a NABIS Scientific Paper:

The following guidelines will help you complete and submit your abstract through the NABIS website.

All submitted proposals will be evaluated by a panel of experts for consideration of presentation.  You may select your preferred presention type (Oral, Poster or No Preferrence), but the review committee will determine the most appropriate type of presentation for your research. The submission site will guide you in submitting your abstract into four text bBOth oxes, as follows:

Introduction: The introduction should (a) describe the problem/opportunity you examined and (b) explain why the problem/opportunity is important to understand.

Methods/Approach: This section should briefly describe what work you actually carried out in examining your problem/opportunity. This may be a brief description of your program or approach, the steps you took to review or investigate an issue, or the work of your group.

Results/Effects: This section focuses on what happened due to the work you described in the Methods/Approach section. This may be the outcomes as a result of your program or approach, conclusions reached as a result of your review of a policy or topic, the next steps in a developmental or organizational process as a result of the work, etc. Where possible, some form of objective data or information is desirable. Present your results here; you will discuss their implications in the following section.

Conclusion/Limitations: This section is where you analyze your results and explain their implications. This may include tying findings to a larger body of work in your field, future directions, or needed research or advocacy to address the issue. Do not simply restate your results. This is also a good place to discuss the limitations of your project.

Please note that both poster and oral presenters will have a chance to present their topic.  This year there will be a Guided Poster Tour where each poster presenter will have a chance to present his/her poster and answer any questions people may have.
