NABIS 25th Annual Conference in Legal Issues on Brain Injury
The North American Brain Injury Society's 25th Annual Conference in Legal Issues on Brain Injury was held Wednesday, September 12 through Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Intercontinental Hotel in sunny Miami, Florida.
On Wednesday, September 12, the event began with a pre-conference session. The pre-conference was organized by Dr. Tina Trudel and was entitled "Neurotoxic Exposure". This session covered assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, litigation and life care planning of neurotoxic exposure cases.
On Thursday, the official meeting starting off with multiple experts talking about a wide range of medical topics which increases the understand of legal professionals. Some of the topics discussed were the TBI Anatomy, Neuro imaging, Biomechanics, Ocular/Vestibular or Concussions in Sports, and Advanced MR techniques. In the evening, there was a Welcome Reception where attendees, speakers, and exhibitors were able to converse and enjoy refreshments.
On Friday, the conference continued with discussions of TBI litigation topics. Some topics included a Legal and Legislative Review of Sports Concussions, Demonstrative Evidence, Economic Consequence of TBI, Day in the Life Videos during Trials, Defense Medical Examiners, and Ethics.
On Saturday, it was the final day of the conference. Some topics discussed were Life Expectancy in TBI cases, Hidden injury of TBI, and Proving Damages in severe TBI cases.
