Session Title: Disorders of Consciousness and the Slow to Recover BI Patient
Dr. Deborah Doherty, M.D., was appointed Chief Medical Officer of CareMeridian in 2016. With more than 30 years of specialized expertise in the field of rehabilitation medicine, specializing in brain injury rehabilitation, Dr. Doherty’s role includes involvement in the strategic and programmatic development for all CareMeridian facilities and spearheading research efforts. She actively represents CareMeridian at public forums that further the understanding of acquired brain injury. Dr. Doherty has served as Rehabilitation Medical Director for CareMeridian’ s Marin County, Ca., facility since 2001 and continues in this role as well.
Prior to her role as Chief Medical Officer for CareMeridian, Dr. Doherty served as Medical Director of the Head Injury Recovery Program for the Kentfield Rehabilitation & Specialty Hospital.
Dr. Doherty currently is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the Marin Medical Society and the Brain Injury Association of California, the Advisory Board of the Brain Injury Network of the Bay Area and the California Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In addition, she has served on numerous other health care industry boards and hospital committees and is widely published.
Dr. Doherty completed her residency at the Stanford University Medical Center & Affiliated Hospitals, her internship at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco, and received her Medical Degree from Hahnemann Medical University in Philadelphia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from Pennsylvania State University. She is a Diplomat of the National Board and Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
