On April 30 - May 2, 2014, the North American Brain Injury Society and the Alaska Brain Injury Network will join together to host the second quadrennial Alaska Brain Injury Conference in Anchorage!

This conference, entitled Shining a Light on Everyday Heroes; Supporting Brain Injury in Your Community, will have a strong focus on rural and underserved communities. Attendees will benefit from nationally and internationally recognized authorities on the subject of brain injury research, rehabilitation and long-term care.

 

From groundbreaking diagnostic and tele-medicine techniques, to community rehabilitation and reentry for successful lifelong living, an all-star cast of top researchers and clinicians will present the very latest in brain injury treatment and rehabilitation.

 

The conference will benefit all providers in Alaska, with specialty tracks specific for military and veterans (i.e. blast injuries and caring for wounded warriors) and tribal/rural topics (i.e. telehealth, using technology to delivery medical and community based services). 

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The Alaska Brain Injury Conference will attract a diverse, multidisciplinary range of professionals due to the array of providers needed to successfully support individuals after brain injury; doctors, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, neuropsychologists, psychologists, behavioral health counselors, educators, vocational specialists, paraprofessionals, TBI survivors and family members.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Nurses:  This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The conference has been approved for 9.5 contacthours of Continuing Nursing Education.

Social Workers: NABIS is an approved NASW-National CE provider. “This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval #886640213-2615) for 9.5 Social Work continuing education contact hours.”

Alaska Psychological Association (AK-PA): AK-PA has approved the conference for 9.5 CE hours, awarded upon participant's submission of AK-PA CE form (available at conference CE table) and fee.

Licensed Professional Counselors: The conference is approved for 9.5 CE hours. The Trust Training Cooperative, conference co-sponsor and CE coordinator, is an approved LPC CE provider (12 AAC 62.320 (O)

Alaska Commission on Behavioral Health Certification: The conference is approved for 9.5 CE hours. The Trust Training Cooperative, conference co-sponsor and CE coordinator, is an approved ACBHC CE provider.

The Conference will take place at the Downtown Anchorage Marriott Hotel on April 30 - May 2, 2014.

Click here to register! The attendee rate is $275 USD.   The Pre-Conference day is $95 USD.

Cancellation Policy:  All requests for cancellations must be received at least 30 days prior to the start of the event for a full refund.  Registration refunds are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. Cancellations must be received in writing by e-mail (clogrande@nabis.org), fax (703-960-6603 ATTN: Colleen LoGrande), or by U.S. mail (PO Box 1804, Alexandria, VA  22313 ATTN: Colleen LoGrande.) No refunds will be made for requests received after that time.  Refunds will be issued in the same form payment was made. Please allow two weeks for processing.
