NABIS thanks its conference sponsors
The National Association for Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) and the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) have announced plans to hold a Joint Meeting on October 6-8, 2010. A scientific planning committee comprised of nationally recognized multidisciplinary leaders from the brain injury field is developing an integrated educational program that promises to be of interest to researchers, clinicians, administrators and advocates for persons with brain injury and their families.
Ronald Savage, EdD, President of NABIS commented, "We are delighted to forge this new partnership with NASHIA. Building on the respective foundations of our already successful annual meetings, it is my expectation that this joint meeting will be one of the most significant events ever held on the subject of brain injury". The NABIS meeting, the largest annual gathering of medical professionals working in the field of brain injury, is a three-day, multi-track event covering medical best practices, rehabilitation, research, life-long living and pediatrics. Added Savage, "We feel it is very important for brain injury clinicians, physicians and scientists to have an open and effective dialogue with the state professionals who really make brain injury services happen in our communities."
This event will be held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Conference on Legal Issues in Brain Injury which will be held October 7-9, 2010. This three-day conference is designed specifically for attorneys who specialize in brain injury litigation. To view the program from 2009 Legal Conference held in Austin, Texas, click here.
The NASHIA State of the State's Meeting is the only annual national conference designed to foster communication and competency development among State government brain injury program administrators. Each year almost every State and Territory is represented, attracting over 200 key State government employees, Brain Injury Association of America chartered State affiliates, and other professionals responsible for planning or administering brain injury prevention, rehabilitation, or community integration programs and services. Maria Crowley, NASHIA President, stated: "This joint meeting presents a unique opportunity for all professionals working in the field of brain injury - from basic scientists, to rehabilitation professionals, to those developing public policy and programs - to come together in one forum to share and learn from each other's experiences and knowledge". Both organizations will disseminate the proceedings that result from the joint meeting via their respective websites, with the expectation that enduring materials developed at the joint meeting will benefit the field of brain injury for years to come.
More information on the joint NASHIA/NABIS Meeting, including the meeting date and location, will be posted on the websites of both organizations in the coming months.
ABOUT NASHIA
In 1990 the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators became the first--and remains the only--forum addressing State government's significant role in brain injury. NASHIA is the premier source of information and education for State Agency employees who are responsible for public brain injury policies, programs, and services. NASHIA is also the voice of State government in Federal TBI policy issues. NASHIA reaches out to all State Agency employees who interact with individuals with brain injury and welcomes membership by advocates, professionals, and organizations with an interest in State and local policy and service delivery.
