Sherry Stock is the Executive Director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon (BIAOR), the only state, nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of creating a better future for people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their families through prevention, research, education and advocacy. Sherry’s educational highlights include: Masters degrees in Medical Sociology, International Gerontology, and Neuro-Gerontology, with minors in Epidemiology and Health Science; nationally certified as a Brain Injury Specialist Trainer with the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist; and ABD in Systems Science, focusing on applying Chaos Theory to epidemics. Sherry has taught numerous University courses in Sociology, International Gerontology, Systems Science, Chaos Theory and Medical Sociology. Sherry written and seen legislation supporting brain injury passed including Max’s Law, Sports Concussion SB 348. Sherry has been appointed by the Governor of Oregon to: the Oregon Disability Commission, where she is the chair; the Oregon State Rehabilitation Council, where she is on the Executive Committee; and the State Independent Living Council, where she is vice chair. Sherry is a member of: the Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council for both Oregon and Idaho, and the Oregon Reintegration Team working with returning military. She is a Board member on numerous National and Oregon non-profits, State and National Steering Committees. Sherry has authored dozens of handbooks, monographs, articles, book chapters and books and is a national speaker. Sherry’s latest handbooks, Brain Injury Handbook: On the Road to Recovery – A guide for Families (2012). Sherry is the mother of a severely brain injured son and the wife of a retired Navy Commander.
